Seminar Rules
Setting up a seminar is very time consuming and expensive. These rules are necessary to make everything go as smoothly as possible and are all for good reasons. Please read them thoroughly. Also keep in mind that we are always looking for ways to say yes, not reasons to say no. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at 414-541-7325(REAL) or by E-mail.

1. By purchasing admission to a seminar, you are agreeing to these rules!

2. Once you have purchased admission to a seminar, there will be no refunds given and no transfers of funds towards other seminars, unless the event is canceled or moved to a different date. You may however, give or sell your spot to another person. We must be notified of this at least 76 hours before the seminar starts. No exceptions.

3. Each minor must be accompanied by a legal guardian who is also participating in the seminar. No one under 16 allowed at all unless specified for a particular seminar. Bring an I.D. if there is any question about your age your ticket will be forfeited without a refund!

4. You are attending our event voluntarily and at your own risk. You also have the right at any time to refuse to participate in any part of the activities for any reason.

5. Unless otherwise specified, our events are not competitions. Nor are they a venue provided for you to come and challenge the instructor or participants. Anyone not understanding this will most likely be ejected by a large group of angry people!

6. "Tapping" or "tapping out" are terms for the action of tapping the palm of your hand (generally at least 3 times) on yourself, your opponent or the mat to indicate that his technique is working, you are in pain and or giving up/surrendering. Tapping is used both in training and competition to show compliance when a lock, hold, choke, or pressure point is being used. This essentially means "uncle". This is important to know, and be ready and able to use, so that unnecessary injury does not occur. If someone is using an aforementioned technique on you and it is causing pain you must tap so that your partner knows that the technique is working and he has to stop so that permanent damage does not occur. Vice versa, if you are the aggressor  applying a technique, you must be aware of when your partner is going to tap and stop immediately. Generally other acceptable means of tapping are saying "tap", "uncle" or "stop". This is a safety tool. It is the equivalent of "throwing in the towel" in boxing. Tapping is not dishonorable or "wimpy" as everyone including instructors will tap possibly 100 times in a training period. If you are unfamiliar with this term, you must talk to an instructor or Realjitsu Academy representative before you take part in an event!

7. Please be courteous and mindful of others by being conscious of personal hygiene (soap and mouth wash go a long way) as martial arts training can be relatively intimate (this includes cutting your finger and toe nails the day before the event so that they are not sharp).

8. Do not bring anything of value to the seminar as we are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

9. Please do not wear jewelry of any sort (rings, watches, ear rings, chains, etc...) as it can be dangerous for you and your training partner and may damage mats.

10. If any equipment is required, bring it and have it ready to be used.

11. It is recommended that all males attending any seminar wear a protective cup. It is recommended that you bring a mouth guard that is cut and molded for your mouth. It is also recommended that anyone attending a weapons-oriented seminar bring a pair of safety glasses.

12. You may wear shoes for training (if the instructor allows) however, for safety's sake and to protect the mats, you may not wear street shoes (having stones or glass on the bottom of your shoes can be painful and cause injury when performing certain techniques). Wrestling Shoes, Martial Arts Shoes and even Gym Shoes of any kind may be worn as long as they are designated for training and have never been worn on the street!!! If you prefer to train in socks or bare feet please reread #7.

13. Anyone paying at the door must pay in cash! Exact change is required. The price at the door is generally higher than prepaying. Space might not be available.

14. In order for the seminar to start on time, please be there 30 minutes before the start time. Also pre-read our sign in sheet and waiver.  You  will be required to sign them at the seminar. If you have any questions, call or e-mail us before the event.

15. Have fun, learn, make friends and be safe!

16. By purchasing admission to a seminar, you are agreeing to these rules!
